In pursuance to Govt. of Assam, Planning and Development Department, Dispur Notification No. PBP. 55/2015/PT-11/54 dated 01-03-2016, Govt. of Assam decided to implement the 17 nos of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Assam and take these goals as the strategy for development of the State and all the sectors in the coming 15 years i.e. till 2030 as the SDGs are meant for universal development focusing on overall development of all Citizens of the world in an ecologically sustainable manner. Accordingly, with the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Assam, Planning and Development Department issued a Govt. Order vide No. PDP. 55/2015/63 dated 28-12-2015 as the Pathway for comprehensive and planned development of Assam. A centre for SDGs has been setup under Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati. Further, Planning and Development Department has been made as Nodal Department and a separate cell called, “SDG Cell” has been created within the Department.
In regards to the Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, Goal No. 2 of the Vision Assam, 2030 i.e. regarding Zero Hunger- End Hunger, achieved Food Security and improved nutrition and promote Sustainable Agriculture and Goal No. 7 of the Vision Assam, 2030 is Affordable and Clean Energy – ensure access to Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable and Modern energy for all.
In pursuance to Goal No. 2, the Govt. of Assam has been implementing National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 from the Month of December, 2015 under National Food Security Mission. As per this Act, Food and Nutritional Security is to be provided to all the People by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity. Proper implementation of NFSA Act, 2013 in the State is a positive step towards ending hunger and providing food security to the poor people of the State. The above provision in the Act will certainly improve the Nutritional standard of the People in the State. To promote Sustainable Agricultural Growth is the responsibility of the State Agriculture Department.
In regards to Goal No. 2 as per allocation of PMGKAY rice for the month of October, 2024 this Commissionerate has been covering 2,31,70,547 nos population. Out of which we are covering 2179284 nos of AAY population and 20991299 nos of PHH population. 671959 nos of AAY (Antodaya Anna Yojana) ration cards are getting 35 kg free rice per card and on the other hand 6011461 nos PHH ration cards are getting @5 kg free rice per member.
In pursuance to Goal No. 7, the percentage of LPG connection against number of households has improved from 97.61% in SDGs index 2020-2021 to 108% in 2023-24 (Additional 8% denotes surplus beneficiaries) in SDG Index 2023-24. As per report received from Senior Manager (LPG Sales), Indian Oil Corporation Limited, the total number of active customers using domestic LPG as on date 2nd Sept/2024 are 105.5 lakhs and number of household using LPG estimated are 63.67 lakhs.
Another Scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has been playing a major role in the Socio-economic development and in Empowerment of Women in the Society. At present, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has been covering a total of 50,97,709 nos. of families in the State of Assam.
